Portland, Maine is a beautiful coastal city in New England known for their lighthouses, seafood, outdoor adventures and cobblestone streets. Explore the Old Port, scenic views, great restaurants and friendly people.
Here are my go-to places to see and where to eat in Portland, Maine.
While Maine is known for their lighthouses my husband and I visited two while we were there. Unfortunately, Portland Head Lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, was too foggy to clearly see this beautiful lighthouse and fort. We were able to explore Nubble Light which was lovely. Afterwards we walked around the cute area and had a bite to eat. There are restaurants next to the lighthouse.
Another great way to sight-see is by going on a sailboat through Schooner Co! The views are wonderful and boat is beautiful! Make sure you purchase your ticket on a nice day, no refunds are accepted, but you are able to reschedule anytime like we did!
There are so many great restaurants in downtown Portland. A few of my favorites for lunch/dinner are Highroller Lobster Co., Eventide Oyster Co., Dimillos and Duck Fat. For breakfast I would recommend trying potato donuts from Holy Donut or Becky’s Diner for traditional diner breakfast. Across from Holy Donut is a great cocktail bar called Blythe and Burrows for an after-dinner cocktail! And, this is my favorite area of Portland to shop, eat and explore!
I hope you enjoyed reading my go-to places in Portland, Maine! What is your favorite restaurant in Portland?
