The Non-Tourist Guide to the Windy City

Updated: Jul 15, 2020

When traveling to Chicago you may think of Cloud Gate/Bean, Willis (Sears) Tower, Michigan Avenue, and Navy Pier. While those are great places to check out, don't forget about the great neighborhoods that offer so much to Chicago!

Here are a few more stops to check out on your next trip to the Windy City!

Lincoln Park

Wonderful walking trails, free Zoo, farmers market, great restaurants and historic homes.

Grab a coffee/tea and pastry at Maison Marcel and explore this beautiful neighborhood.

Walk around Lincoln Park Conservatory and look at the beautiful city views! Great for photos and beautiful in the fall with the leaves changing colors.

One of my favorite rooftops is in the Lincoln Hotel - J Parker overlooking the lake, stunning city views, and delicious food!

Gold Coast

Beautiful neighborhood in the big city with fabulous restaurants, high-end shopping and charming homes. One of my favorite neighborhoods to walk around in.

Gibson's Steakhouse is a Chicago staple with its rooted history since 1989. Sit at the bar for a drink and appetizer or make a reservation for a great steak meal.

Walk and shop along the Oak Street District. Great high-end shopping and chic boutiques.

Check out the posh restaurant located inside Restoration Hardware, 3 Arts Club Cafe. The food is delicious and restaurant is gorgeous.

A delightful Italian restaurant in Gold Coast is Nico Osteria. Sit at the bar for a drink and appetizer or sit out on the patio!

My favorite brunch spot is an all American restaurant, Somerset. Delicious food, great service, and beautiful decor.

West Loop

West Loop has come along way! Many great restaurants, boutiques and museums. There are so many wonderful restaurants in West Loop you cannot go wrong with any. Here are my go-to places!

Sip high tea at Soho House served in The Allis. Beautiful décor, delicious food, tea and wine. This is perfect for an afternoon with the girls or a cute date.

For a high-end dining experience check out Blackbird, the staff is knowledgeable, cuisine is amazing and décor is modern and chic.

For a more casual dining experience have barbecue or smoked brisket with amazing sides at Blackwood BBQ.

https://www.blackwoodbbq.com/ Or if you are a fan of pizza head over to Bonci and grab a few pieces of authentic Italian pizza! https://bonciusa.com/

Experience the Wndr Museum where art and technology collide! This is great for the whole family.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your next trip to the Windy City!
