Your go-to Guide to Charleston, South Carolina

Updated: Jul 19, 2020

Charleston, South Carolina has so much to explore; history, southern homes, amazing food, and great shopping. Charleston is southern hospitality at its finest. Here are my go-to picks on where to stay, what to do and where to eat in the picturesque city.

Where to stay:

Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston, Autograph Collection located in Charleston’s historic district is a gorgeous boutique hotel. Walk through the gallery, sip vintage wine or have a cocktail on the rooftop!

Hotel Bennett located in historic old town neighborhood is southern fabulous! Enjoy laying out by the pool and sip a cocktail at the bar.

What to do:

There is so much to do for everyone, whether you are on a weekend trip with friends, a romantic getaway or with your whole family. You will not be disappointed in Charleston. Here are my favorite things to do in the Holy City.

Walk down the historic Rainbow Row to look at the beautiful colorful homes and take photos. Stroll through Kings Street to shop at southern boutiques and eat at cute restaurants.

The Pineapple Fountain is a beautiful iconic fountain in Charleston. Take a photo with the fountain then walk to Battery Park and take a boat tour to Fort Sumter.

Visit Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island or Isle of Palms for a relaxing beach day and eat fresh seafood at nearby restaurants.

Middleton Place is a beautiful plantation enriched with history and has the oldest landscape gardens in the USA. Make sure to eat at the restaurant after you tour the garden and home for an amazing southern meal!

Where to eat:

When traveling to Charleston I have never had a bad meal. No matter visiting a bar for happy hour or going to an awarded James Beard restaurant, Charleston has one of the best food scenes!

Zero George is the epitome of Southern Charm. Exquisite cuisine, beautiful home and great service.

Husk is a great restaurant located in downtown Charleston. Enjoy an amazing dinner of delicious southern food, then grab a nightcap at a nearby rooftop or bar.

Nico is an oyster bar with French cuisine. The restaurant décor is beautiful, food is fresh + delicious and wonderful service.

The Vendue rooftop has wonderful food, great cocktails and charming views.

Bourbon n' Bubbles is a chic place for happy hour, late night dinner or an after-dinner cocktail! 🥃

Enjoy your next trip to Charleston and soak up the southern charm!
